The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) and the Trinidad and Tobago Intellectual Property Office (TTIPO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation on intellectual property and deepening longstanding relations between the two countries.
The agreement establishes a formal framework for collaboration between the two agencies to enhance intellectual property systems, promote innovation, and support entrepreneurs and businesses in both Canada and Trinidad and Tobago.
Under the MOU, both offices will cooperate in several key areas, including the exchange of information on institutional development and operational experience; sharing of data and best practices; and collaboration on capacity-building and professional development initiatives. The agreement also provides for joint work in other areas of mutual interest related to intellectual property administration.
Officials said the partnership reflects the enduring relationship between Canada and Trinidad and Tobago and reinforces a shared commitment to fostering innovation, supporting entrepreneurship, and advancing economic growth through stronger IP protection and administration frameworks.
The two agencies are expected to use the agreement to enhance technical cooperation and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of intellectual property services in both jurisdictions.
