Canadian singer Miztrizz drops reggae EP

Rain SZN, the EP from Canadian singer Miztrizz, was released on July 30.

She also co-produced the six-song project with fellow vocalist Wai Fuzion, who is also based in Canada. According to her management, Rain SZN blends Miztrizz's "reggae and dancehall sound with smooth R&B vibes". It contains songs such as Put Me on Repeat, Lotta Love and Snapshot, a collaboration with Empress Divine. Wine n' Jiggle, another song from the EP, was released in late 2024 and became a hit in Canadian dancehall-reggae circles. Known as the North Star, Miztrizz was born in Canada. Although her introduction to music came in the church, she also developed an early love for dancehall-reggae through her Jamaican father.

Last year was a breakout for Miztrizz. In addition to Wine n' Jiggle, her song Let me Know was nominated for Reggae Song of The Year at the inaugural Reggae North Music Awards in Canada. That category went to Steele with You Know You Want to Be Loved, but Miztrizz considers being nominated a plus.

"I was very pleased to have learnt of the nomination, it did come as a surprise to me, as I know there are so many artistes striving for the same recognition. Personally, it has assured me that the journey that I am on is with a purpose," she said.

The success of Wine n' Jiggle earned Miztrizz a presence in the Toronto dancehall scene, which influenced the direction of Rain SZN.
