Today, August 18, is nomination day for the September 3 General Election.
It’s also nomination day for by-elections in four divisions across the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporations.
The divisions are Chancery Hall, Olympic Gardens, Seivwright Gardens, and Denham Town.
The governing JLP and the opposition PNP are expected to nominate candidates for all 63 constituencies, as well as for the four electoral divisions.
Independent candidates and representatives from minor parties are also expected to enter the race.
Presumptive candidates are to submit their nominations for the respective elections at designated nomination centres.
Nomination of candidates for the General Election will take place from 10AM to 2PM while nominations for the by-elections will be accepted between 12-Noon and 2PM.
Persons wishing to register as candidates for the General Election must complete the Nomination Form signed by at least 10 electors registered to vote in the constituency.
That form must be submitted to the Returning Officer during the designated hours along with a nomination fee of 15-thousand dollars.
By-election candidates require signatures from six electors in their division and must pay a 3-thousand-dollar nomination fee.
Nomination fees are paid in bank notes; no debit/credit cards or cheques are accepted.
