Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service conducting a Cannabis Eradication Operation between 6 am and 8 am on Thursday in Moriah, Tobago, discovered and destroyed an estimated $125,000 worth of cannabis.
During the operation, the TTPS says PC Thorpe led a group of officers into a forested area approximately 360 meters off Northside Road, Castara.
There, officers discovered one cannabis field occupying approximately one lot of land. The field contained an estimated 250 fully grown cannabis plants.
Further searches led to the discovery of a makeshift camp site and a drying rack in the vicinity. These were presumed to be used in the processing of the cannabis.
In accordance with established procedures, the TTPS says, he plants and structures were destroyed on site.
The operation was coordinated by Inspector Bacchus and Acting Inspector Stewart. It was strategically led by W/Ag. Sgt. Gordon-Harris and Ag. Sgt. McMillan. Supervision was provided by W/Cpl. Alleyne-Pantin, Ag. Cpl. Ferguson, and Cpl. Broomes of the Special Investigations Unit.
The operation was executed by officers of the Tobago Divisional Task Force, with additional assistance from other members of the Special Investigations Unit.
