ON THE heels of the announcement that Caribbean Airlines would be adding the Sangster International Airport to one of its daily destinations to and from Fort Lauderdale, the organisation has also revealed a new partnership with the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA).

According to a release from the organisation, Caribbean Airlines has been designated the official airline partner of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships.

“The partnership reinforces Caribbean Airlines’ commitment to supporting regional sports excellence and youth development across the Caribbean. It provides seamless travel solutions for athletes, officials, and spectators attending this landmark sporting event,” read the release.

“Caribbean Airlines is honoured to partner with ISSA to support the Boys and Girls’ Championships, an institution that has produced some of the world’s greatest track and field athletes,” said Garvin Medera, CEO of Caribbean Airlines.

“Home is where the heart is, and for Jamaicans, Champs is the heart and soul of our nation. Caribbean Airlines is proud to connect you with this iconic event, bringing you home to experience the electrifying energy of Champs,” he said.

The agreement includes special discounted fares for Champs travellers and branding presence throughout the National Stadium and across Champs media platforms.

“Having Caribbean Airlines as our official airline partner elevates the ISSA Boys and Girls’ Championships profile,” said Keith Wellington, president of ISSA.

“Their extensive regional network and commitment to service excellence make them the perfect partner as we continue to build on our tradition of athletics achievement and provide opportunities for our student-athletes to shine on an international stage,” said Wellington.

With Caribbean Airlines’ increased frequency of flights from Fort Lauderdale to Kingston and Montego Bay, the carrier believes it can better serve the influx of visitors for Champs, which regularly attracts thousands of international spectators, including college scouts, former competitors, and diaspora returning to witness the next generation of athletic stars.

Champs takes place from March 25 to 29 at the National Stadium in Kingston. It will feature more than 235 schools and approximately 3,000 athletes competing in a full slate of track and field events.
