Carl Prynce looks to heat up with ‘Cold Cold’

Reggae artiste Carl Prynce is counting on his breakout single, Cold Cold, to heat up his career.

The Jamaica-born, US-based reggae artiste, whose given name is Delroy Pinnock, is promoting the track through his King Virgo label, balancing his ambitions behind the microphone with a growing interest in music production. Released on August 5, Cold Cold was produced by King Virgo label and distributed by Likkle Peppa Records & Mcarthur Digital Distro LLC.

“The reception has been very good so far, so I just continue to put in the work,” Prynce said. “These days, I depend on my social media platforms and I’m getting very good traction so far since the release.”

That steady approach has roots in Lawrence Tavern, the rural St Andrew community where he grew up. Music was part of family life: his grandfather played bass guitar in church and occasionally asked the young Prynce to sing. Those early invitations helped nurture an interest that deepened during his teenage years, when he honed his skills among friends. He later migrated to the US, carrying both his love of performing and a desire to create opportunities for other artistes.

That second ambition has become an increasingly important part of his musical outlook. Alongside his own recordings, Prynce wants to develop projects for other performers and establish himself in production. Among the producers he admires are Stephen ‘Di Genius’ McGregor, Lloyd ‘King Jammy’ James, Dave Kelly and Donovan Germain. His aspirations extend well beyond the communities where his musical journey began.

“I would love for my music to reach a wide audience out there in Europe, Asia, South and North America, and also the entire Caribbean,” he said. “I make music from the soul and I know that people will be able to relate to it, whatever their religion or ethnic background.”
