Lisa Indar is the new executive director of the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), effective 1 February 2025.
She previously served as Ad Interim Executive Director since July 2024 and has been CARPHA’s Director of Surveillance, Disease Prevention, and Control since 2019.
In a statement announcing her appointment, CARPHA boasted of Dr Indar’s leadership and extensive public health experience spanning over 20 years.
During a recent staff retreat, Dr Indar unveiled CARPHA’s strategic plan for 2025-2030, outlining a commitment to delivering Caribbean-specific health solutions under an “Integrated, One Health Agency” framework.
The agency’s priorities will align with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and focus on results-based management to better serve CARPHA’s 26 member states.
“Our greatest strengths are regional solidarity, our resilient people, and CARPHA’s integrated surveillance approach, which addresses health threats by combining human, environmental, and animal health perspectives,” Indar said in her address.
