Castleton Derby Returns as Opening Leg of Belize Triple Crown Series

Horse racing enthusiasts are gearing up for one of the most anticipated events on Belize’s sporting calendar, as the Castleton Easter Monday race meet returns to the Castleton Racetrack in Burrell Boom Village on Monday.  The event will feature the prestigious Castleton Derby, marking the first leg of the 2026 Triple Crown Series for locally bred horses. Organizers say the derby continues to serve as a major platform for showcasing Belize’s top racing talent, while drawing large crowds from across the country.  Gates are scheduled to open at eleven o’clock in the morning, with the first race set to get underway promptly at eleven-thirty. Patrons can look forward to a full card of eleven races, featuring a strong lineup of contenders including Topaz, Vik D Trik, Tiznow Justice, Jericho, Mitole Run, Tropical Storm, Silent Creek, Mischief Maker, and Kinetic, among others.  The event follows on the heels of last year’s standout performance by Essenza’s Song, the 2025 Triple Crown winner, raising expectations for another competitive and high-energy race day.  Organizers say the Easter Monday race meet is not only a sporting highlight but also a key social event, bringing together families, racing fans, and stakeholders in the industry.  This year’s staging is being supported by several sponsors, including the National Gas Company, Innovative Energy Solutions, Protel BPO, Ayinha Farms, Benny’s Home Center, and others, underscoring continued private sector backing for horse racing in Belize.  With a packed race card and the opening leg of the Triple Crown on the line, all eyes will be on Burrell Boom this Easter Monday for what promises to be an exciting day at the races.
