Caye Caulker Man Charged After Allegedly Tossing Gun During Police Chase

Javan Moody, a resident of Caye Caulker has been formally charged following a police investigation into reports of gunshots on the island. Moody was charged with keeping a firearm and ammunition without a license after the incident, which occurred on February 12 at 8:45 pm in the Bahia area. Police responded to reports of shots fired and upon arrival, saw a golf cart carrying three individuals speeding away from the area. Officers pursued the cart and during the chase, Moody was reportedly seen throwing a firearm before he was apprehended. ACP Smith has more on the matter.

Authorities recovered the weapon, and Moody was detained and formally charged.
