Chaguanas grandmother, 65, killed

A 65-year-old Chaguanas grandmother was shot and killed as she and other relatives stopped to buy doubles in Cunupia on Saturday morning.

As of 11.00 am police were unable to confirm the details that led to the death of Suzanne St Louis, but reported that she and other relatives stopped at Sauce Doubles on the Southern Main Road, Cunupia, just before 8.30 am when they were confronted by bandits.

Gunshots were heard and St Louis was shot in the process.

Reports indicated that one of St Louis’ relatives who is a licensed firearm holder may have shot her by mistake during the fracas. However, this has been unconfirmed by official sources.

Sources said St Louis and her relatives were on their way to Maracas Bay when the incident happened.

Officers of the Cunupia CID are continuing enquiries.
