Chris Brown isn’t bothered after Pitchfork slammed his latest album BROWN released via RCA Records, calling it “a real piece of sh*t” and “soulless, hit-chasing music.”

Brown addressed critics directly in a fiery message to fans via his instagram stories:

“Team Breezy. I know people want me to get on here and say some sad shit, but f*ck that. We kicking they ass, god damn it. We ain’t letting up. I’m going to keep my foot on they neck and we ain’t stopping. You hear me? We doing this motherf*cker. Tour, more shit to come. I’m not going to tell you what’s more to come, but it’s coming at the end of the day.

I don’t give a f*ck what these niggas is talking about. I know exactly who my fans is, and I know exactly who hearing this album. If you not my fan, I don’t want you to listen to my shit. Go listen to motherf*cking Zara Larsson or somebody. F*ck them.”

In its review, Pitchfork criticized nearly every aspect of the album, arguing that BROWN lacked “soul,” creativity, vulnerability, and inspiration. The publication accused Brown of relying heavily on victim narratives and redemption themes throughout the project, while also revisiting his controversial history and public image over the last 15 years.

The review also took aim at several songs individually, calling tracks like “Colours” robotic and emotionless, while describing “Honey Pack” as an awkward attempt at recreating classic R&B energy. Pitchfork further claimed Brown’s music now sounds overly polished and digitally processed, arguing that many of the album’s lyrics center around self-pity and media backlash rather than genuine introspection.

Despite the criticism, Brown continues to maintain a loyal fanbase as the album debuts at No. 1 in over 30 countries on Apple Music and is set to debut a No. 5 on next week’s Billboard 200 albums chart with over 70,000 units in sales . The singer recently celebrated two decades in music with his Breezy Bowl XX stadium tour and earned his first Grammy win in over a decade for 11:11 (Deluxe). He will co-headline the Use Brown tour this summer.
