Olympian Christine Day has been selected to be the first ever Sports Exchange Advisor under the Exchange and Teaching programme between Jamaica and Japan.
The 38-year-old Day was among the participants who were feted at a send off party at the residence of the Ambassador of Japan to Jamaica, Yasuhiro Atsumi on Thursday.
Day, who participated in two Olympic Games for Jamaica, is scheduled to leave he island next Friday to start what is expected to be a year long mission.
She told Nationwide Sports she’s excited by the opportunity.

Day will be training and mentoring aspiring track athletes during her time in Japan and will also play an advisory role to coaches in the Totorri Prefecture.
