Chronixx’s sophomore album Exile debuts at No. 5 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart for the week ending October 25, 2025, marking the highest new album debut by a Jamaican artist on the chart this year.
According to data obtained by WMV, Exile earned over 3,000 equivalent album units in its first week in the United States, driven by strong digital sales and streaming activity following its global release.
The Billboard Reggae Albums Chart curates the week’s most popular reggae albums, based on multimetric consumption, blending traditional album sales, streaming-equivalent albums and track-equivalent albums, as compiled by Luminate.
Exile has surpassed 1 million Spotify streams and charted at No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Reggae Chart for one full week and remains in the top 2.
This week’s Billboard Reggae Albums chart is led by Bob Marley and the Wailers’ Legend** at No. 1 with over 11,000 units sold, followed by Shaggy’s The Boombastic Collection** at No. 2, Stick Figure’s World on Fire** at No. 3, and Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock at No. 4.
Further down the chart Stick Figure’s Wisdom and Set In Stone are at No. 6 & 7. Damain Marley’s Welcome To Jamrock moves up to No. 8 and UB40’s Greatest Hits is at No. 9. Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailer rounds out the top 10.
While Exile didn’t debut as high as Chronixx’s earlier releases, it continues his consistent Billboard track record. His breakout 2014 EP Dread & Terrible peaked at No. 179 on the Billboard 200, bolstered by major U.S. promotions including a Jimmy Fallon performance and a Central Park concert. Three years later, his debut album Chronology topped the Billboard Reggae Albums chart for two consecutive weeks after its July 7, 2017 release and earned a Grammy nomination.
Chronology also crossed over internationally, peaking at No. 21 on the Swedish Albums Chart and selling more than 100,000 album-equivalent units in the U.S. according to data obtain by WMV from Luminate.
Despite dozens of releases, on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart this year, only five Jamaican artists have made entries.
Vybz Kartel kicked off the year with his Viking: 10th Anniversary album, which peaked at No. 10 in January. Later, two icons of Jamaican music — Sister Nancy and Peter Tosh — entered the spotlight through Record Store Day vinyl reissues. Nancy’s 1982 debut One Two debuted at No. 3 in April, marking her first-ever appearance on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart. That same week, Peter Tosh’s Greatest Hits charted at No. 8, following its global re-release by Rhino Records. The compilation was originally issued only in Brazil in 1987, making its international debut nearly four decades later.
Chronixx’s Exile now joins that exclusive group, becoming the only new reggae album released in 2025 by a Jamaican artist to debut on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart.
Elsewhere, Bob Marley’s Uprising (1980) entered the chart for the first time at No. 9 on July 12.
Beyond Jamaica, American reggae acts occupied chart space this year’s chart. The Movement’s eighth studio album Visions debuted at No. 7, while Crawling Up the Wall by Bumpin Uglies entered the Top 10 for the week of October 4, also at No. 7.
Additionally, Collection: 50th State of Mind by Fiji The Artist made a posthumous debut following his passing on July 23. Originally released in 2018, the album entered the chart for the first time, driven by renewed fan interest and streaming surges celebrating his legacy.
