Hammer Thower Nayoka Clunis will not compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics after a decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) this morning.
Represented by attorneys Dr Emir Crowne and Sayeed Bernard, Clunis had filed a last-minute appeal to the CAS Ad Hoc Division on Friday, saying she was getting no response from the Jamaica Athletic Administrative Association (JAAA).
Though Clunis finished among the top 32 athletes, earning a place at the Olympics, an administrative guffaw by the JAAA, where her name was not submitted to World Athletics, meant her slot was filled.
CAS determined that the matter "could not be entertained" because it was filed "outside of the jurisdiction of the ad hoc division".
In a statement released today CAS said because of this, the case could not be reviewed on its merits.
Clunis was seeking to become Jamaica's first representative in the event at the Games.
The Jamaica Olympic Association, the International Olympic Committee, and World Athletics, were also represented at the hearing on Saturday as interested parties.
