More than 60 children between the ages of 5 and 15 years old have improved their swimming and water safety skills after completing a week-long summer camp. The camp was hosted by the Belize Coast Guard (BCG) in collaboration with the Belize Coast Guard Family Association (BCGFA). Students were trained by Coast Guard seamen and officers on how to enter the water, how to float, swim, and handle emergency situations in the water. We spoke to Lieutenant Junior Grade Andrew Moody from the BCG about the program, as well as participants and their families.
This was the third year for the initiative. It was held at Hakim Shipyard on the Philip Goldson Highway./
