Coconut Vendor Granted Bail on Drug Possession Charge

A Belize City coconut vendor has been granted bail after being charged with drug possession. Emmanuel Mejia was allegedly found with 0.8 grams of marijuana laced with crack cocaine. The bust occurred on Saturday, July 26, in the Lake Garden area of Ladyville. Mejia appeared in court today, where he was represented by lawyer Richard Bradley. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail for $1,000. Mejia is scheduled to return to court on October 14.
