Commentator Urges Golding to Hit Reset Following ‘Troubling’ Comments

2 days ago 2

Political commentator, Germaine Barrett, is calling on Mark Golding to lead a reset in his party, following recent troubling pronouncements from the political platform by People’s National Party, PNP, caretakers.

Barrett was speaking on Nationwide This Morning on Thursday.

Daina Davy reports.

On Sunday, PNP caretaker for South West St Elizabeth, Dr. Miranda Wellington issued a war cry to party faithfuls.

The previous week, concerns were raised about this comment by PNP caretaker in Western Hanover, Heatha Miller-Bennett regarding former PNP supporters who switched allegiance to the JLP.

Germaine Barrett says PNP president, Mark Golding, should lead from the front and address the utterances coming from his party.

Meanwhile, Barrett also noted vulgar utterances made recently by Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, member of parliament, MP, Everald Warmington.

Warmington dropped a string of curse words while addressing Labourites at a JLP meeting in Westmoreland on Sunday. It led to the South West St. Catherine MP having to issue an apology.

Prime Minister, Dr Andrew Holness later issued a letter warning JLP MPs and caretakers to avoid all forms of vulgarity on the political platform.

Mr. Barrett says a similar approach needs to be taken by the PNP leadership.

Meanwhile, political commentator, Dr. Nadeen Spence says Golding is yet to provide a response to the utterances coming from his party’s standard-bearers on the political platform.

Dr. Spence says the utterances from the PNP on the political platform are making some Jamaicans uncomfortable.
