While some constituents in Central Kingston are disappointed with the People’s National Party’s, PNP, decision to remove Lawrence Rowe as caretaker, there are others who are in full support of his replacement, retired senior superintendent of police, Steve McGregor.
Rowe was told, in a letter dated January 11, that he would be replaced as the man carrying the PNP’s standard on election day.
McGregor was presented to constituents at a meeting in Allman Town on Wednesday.

Some PNP supporters in Central Kingston told our news centre earlier this week that they would paint the constituency office green–the colour of the governing Jamaica Labour Party, if Lawrence Rowe was not reinstated as caretaker.
But no green paint was in sight as comrades gathered at the constituency office to see PNP President Mark Golding formally present Steve McGregor as their candidate in waiting.
One supporter told us that in light of the party’s decision, people should move on and rally behind the new man in charge.
Another comrade told us that Steve McGregor deserves full support, given his work throughout communities in the constituency over several years.
A third supporter told us that McGregor is a man of the soil who has the capacity to distinguish himself in parliament.
