Nationwide News understands the jobs of all staff members in the marketing department at SportsMax Limited, the Caribbean’s leading producer and broadcaster of sporting content, have been made redundant.
SportsMax is owned by Digicel Jamaica.
It’s understood that redundancy letters were handed to staff members on Thursday.
Our news centre understands that the position of the senior manager responsible for content and programming has also been made redundant.
Some ancillary staff have also been told they are surplus to requirements.
Nationwide News understands that the latest cuts are part of an organisation wide rationalisation exercise being undertaken by the Digicel leadership.
This as they look to streamline operations and staunch the bleeding across all areas of the business.
Our sources say Digicel is racing against the clock to implement various cost saving measures and make the company into a lean outfit, ahead of the start of the new financial year in April.
The latest cuts also follow action taken last year when the chief executive officer of SportsMax along with one of his senior managers were told that they no longer had a place in the organisation going forward.
