Cops seek PDOs for 11 held in Gasparillo anti-crime operations

Preventative Detention Orders (PDOs) are being sought for some 11 persons arrested during anti-crime operations that were carried out in Gasparillo between June 6th and 15th, 2026, the Police Service has confirmed.  

According to an official statement, the operation was conducted “to curb and detect the increase in home invasions, robberies, firearm related offences, breakings and drug related offences in the [Gasparillo] district.” 

The TTPS says substantial efforts were made to apprehend offenders responsible for the crimes committed. 

During the exercise, officers arrested 11 male suspects, ages 16 to 34 years.  The suspects were said to be from Gasparillo, Golconda, Point Fortin and Williamsville.  

The TTPS says applications for the PDOs were made after “intensive and in-depth investigations”. Thus far, eight have been granted, while three are still pending. 

The police operation was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Simon, Supt. Bertie, W/Supt. Bridglal, spearheaded by ASPs Ramsaran, Pacheco, Chulhan and Ragbir and supervised by Insp. (Ag.) Alexander. 

Also involved were officers of Gasparillo Police Station and the Southern Division Task Force.
