ST JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC):

RAHKEEM CORNWALL has relinquished his role as captain of the Leeward Islands Hurricanes ahead of the upcoming CG United Super50 Cup.

The 32-year-old reportedly made the disclosure following the completion of the Leeward Islands Cricket Board Mixed Tournament yesterday, where Antigua and Barbuda finished second behind St Kitts.

According to reports, Cornwall, a former West Indies all-rounder, said while he fully intended to support his successor in the role, he wanted to focus his attention on his personal performances moving forward.

It is widely expected that West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph will be appointed captain for the Super50 Cup, which will be played in Trinidad and Tobago from November 19 to 29.

The Hurricanes are yet to name their squad for the tournament.
