Corozal Begins Holiday Season as Town Tree Rises at Chactemal Plaza

Corozal Town is already embracing the holiday spirit as preparations for the Christmas season quietly began this past week. Residents have noticed a striking blue Christmas tree going up in the center of the Chactemal Plaza, an early signal that the Corozal Town Council is moving ahead with its annual decorations.  However, there is one major change this year: the traditional location for holiday festivities, Corozal Central Park, remains under renovation. With the park still closed to the public, the council has not yet confirmed where the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony,a beloved community tradition, will take place.  The shift to Chactemal Plaza has sparked curiosity among residents, many of whom are already wondering what the Town Council has planned for December and whether long-standing holiday customs will continue in their familiar form.  As Corozal inches closer to the start of the festive season, anticipation is building.
