Opposition Spokesman on Education, Damion Crawford, says the PNP’s income tax threshold increase would be more beneficial to teachers than the proposal put forward by the government.
The Opposition Spokesman was speaking at the launch by the PNP of its Manifesto Lite on Monday.
It should be noted that Crawford’s reference to the Prime Minister’s salary is incorrect.
It’s public knowledge that the Prime Minister has not accepted the increase taken up by all other members of parliament and continues to collect his old salary.
That salary is about $9 million per annum.
Crawford says under the PNP’s promised threshold increase to 3-point -five million dollars a teacher would take home about 2-hundred-thousand dollars more annually.

No timeline regarding the full implementation of the 3-point-5-million-dollar threshold has been given by the opposition.
Neither has the government given a full timeline for the phased implementation reductions in the personal income tax rate.
