Cricket Set to Return to Antigua Recreation Ground After 11 Year Absence

The calls for the Antigua Recreation Grounds, ARG, to be returned as a cricket facility will soon be a reality after the 11-year lease between the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association, ABFA, and the government ended.

Cricket was last played at the ARG in February 2009 after the second Test between West Indies and England at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium was abandoned on safety grounds after 10 balls.

A third Test began at the old Recreation Ground in St John’s two days later, on February 15, with the series extended to five matches.

The ABFA hosted their top domestic competition, the Premier Division, at the venue.
