ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies (CWI) has taken a significant step in its transformation journey, announcing a strategic advisory engagement with Teneo, a premier global advisory firm with deep roots in the Caribbean and a proven record of shaping commercial success across international sport.
Endorsed by the CWI Board of Directors during its June 27 meeting, the partnership will see Teneo conduct an independent review of CWI’s ongoing reorganisation and cost-optimisation initiatives.
The firm’s specialists will work closely with CWI’s leadership to sharpen operational, financial, and commercial frameworks, reinforcing the governing body’s pursuit of long-term sustainability.
The project will be spearheaded by Teneo’s CARICOM Chairman, Brian Glasgow, and Managing Director, David Collins, supported by a global network of more than 1,800 professionals spanning over 50 offices worldwide.
Teneo brings to the table extensive experience in crafting innovative commercial models across football, motorsport, cricket, and tennis, having advised elite entities such as Manchester United.
CWI CEO Chris Dehring underscored the importance of the engagement.
“The West Indies brand is one of the most powerful and recognisable in world sport. We need partners who understand how to translate that brand power into operational strength. Teneo brings that experience, having advised some of the most iconic names in global sport.
“Critically, this engagement gives us an independent, external lens on the work already underway. It tests our thinking and ensures we are building on the soundest possible foundation. This is a natural next step in the broader transformation agenda of our 2024-2027 Strategic Plan.”
Brian Glasgow echoed Dehring’s sentiments, highlighting the cultural weight of the assignment.
“Cricket West Indies is far more than a sporting organisation. It is a symbol of Caribbean pride, identity and achievement that has united our region for generations. We are honoured to support CWI and look forward to working closely with its leadership, stakeholders, and partners as they continue building for the future.”
David Collins, Managing Director at Teneo, reinforced the firm’s commitment to bolstering CWI’s long-term vision.
“CWI has already undertaken significant foundational work. We are excited to bring our organisational, financial, and commercial advisory expertise to support that journey. Our focus is on strengthening the foundations for enduring success, enabling CWI to invest in the game, create opportunities for future generations, and maximise the potential of one of sport’s most recognised brands.”
This advisory engagement is the latest pillar of CWI’s comprehensive transformation agenda, which includes governance enhancements, rebuilding the player production pipeline, and deepening collaboration with territorial boards and regional stakeholders.
