Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness has defended his administration’s rural school bus programme amid escalating attacks from the parliamentary opposition.
Speaking in St. Elizabeth on Friday, Dr. Holness says those who are criticising the programme do not understand the realities of taking public transportation to school.
The programme has been criticised by several members of the opposition People’s National Party, PNP.
PNP leader, Mark Golding, described the buses being used as “old”, while Senator Peter Bunting told supporters the buses would “kill off poor people pickney dem.”
Both Bunting and Golding have been criticised online for being aloof and out of touch with rural realities.
Dr. Holness says his administration is delivering a programme that many thought would be impossible.
