National cyclists Melaika Russell and Jaequan Dixon Will travel to Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday to participate in a two-week training camp at the UCI World Cycling Centre Development Satellite Facility.
The invitation was extended to cyclists Under-19 and Under-23 as the main purpose of the camp is to prepare cyclists for the 2025 Youth Pan American Games in Asuncion from August 9- 23.
The Jamaica Cycling Federation is grateful for the opportunity for Russell and Dixon to participate in the camp, as this exposure and training in a worldclass facility will do a lot for their development and certainly for Russell’s preparation for the Junior Pan American Games in a few months.
Russell will be the sole cyclist that will represent Jamaica at the 2025 Youth Pan American Games as Jamaica earned the qualifying spot as a result on Llori Sharpe’s 1st place at the Caribbean Championships in November last year.
Dixon, a “rising star”, has been performing very well at all local events since the start of the year.
