Dangriga Police Investigating Fatal Scooter Crash on Old Mullins River Road

Police in Dangriga are investigating a fatal road traffic accident that claimed the life of a 28-year-old man on Sunday night.  Around 10:42 p.m., officers responded to reports of a collision along the Old Mullins River Road. When police arrived at the scene, they observed a parked trailer on the right-hand side of the road and a black scooter, lying damaged in the middle of the roadway.  A short distance away, officers found a male person later identified as Jessy Palacio, a self-employed resident of the area. In today’s press brief, ASP Stacy Smith spoke on the preliminary findings.

Stacy Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Police: “Police are investigating an apparent traffic accident which resulted in the death of 28-year-old Jesse Palacio of Mullins River Village in Stann Creek District. This incident occurred sometime around 10:40pm on Sunday, 8 February, 2026. The investigation commenced on the aforementioned date and time when police were alerted of the presence of an injured Mr. Palacio on the Mullins River Road. The officers responded and upon their arrival they observed Mr Palacio who exhibited injuries to the face and body and on the scene was a scooter which showed signs of damages. Palacio was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital for treatment, however he succumbed to the injuries he sustained sometime around 11 o’clock p.m.” 

Love News understands that Palacio was transported by an ambulance to the Southern Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 11:10 p.m.
