Dangriga Receives New Garbage Truck to Tackle Waste Crisis

The Dangriga Town Council is better poised to address the municipality’s garbage problem, now that it has received one of the two new garbage trucks that were ordered. As we reported previously, the council ordered two new trucks last year; however, they were delayed due to shipping issues. The result has been major issues in garbage collection, given the poor condition of the council’s current fleet of compactors. Today, Mayor Robert Mariano spoke on the plans to upgrade the fleet.

Both trucks were secured through a partnership with Caribbean Motors. At this morning’s handing over, Chad Dietrich, Sales Manager at Caribbean Motors, said that the new truck will be able to get around the town easier than those currently being used.

Mayor Mariano said the council is hoping to have the newly revised plan for garbage collection routes completed in the next two weeks.
