David Morales Appointed Special Envoy for Oil and Gas

The Briceño Administration has appointed a Special Envoy for Oil and Gas, formalizing the role through an official instrument signed by Governor-General Froyla Tzalam.  According to the document, David Morales has been appointed as Special Envoy for Oil and Gas for a three-year term, effective October 1. The instrument authorizes Morales to carry out his assigned duties on behalf of the Government of Belize, with the rights, privileges, and facilities necessary to perform his functions.  The appointment places the Special Envoy under the portfolio of the Ministry of Finance, Investment, Economic Transformation, Civil Aviation, and E-Governance, which will oversee the scope and direction of the work.  While the government has not released specific details on Morales’ immediate priorities, the role is expected to involve engagement on matters related to Belize’s oil and gas interests, including policy coordination and representation on behalf of the state.  As of now, no further information has been provided on the objectives or activities planned under the appointment, with stakeholders awaiting additional clarification from the relevant ministry on how the position will be operationalized.
