Jamaica failed in their quest to advance to the Davis Cup tier-two after losing to New Zealand 3-2 at the Eric Bell Tennis Centre, on Sunday.
This result means Jamaica has been relegated to Group-3 in the Americas Zone.
Both teams were locked at 1-1 after Saturday’s singles matches.
However, New Zealand took the lead when their doubles pair of Finn Reynolds and Ajeet Rai beat Jamaica’s Nicholas Gore and John Chin 6-1, 6-2 giving the tourists a 2-1 lead.
Jamaica’s number-1 player, Blaise Bicknell level the tie with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Rai in the reverse singles.
In the deciding singles match Jamaica’s Rowland Phillips lost to Jack Loutit 6-3, 6-3.
