Paul “Tegat” Davis says he’s happy to be back at Montego Bay United and is hoping to build on what the team has done so far this season and become Premier League champions.

Davis has been appointed head coach of the former champions until the end of the season, replacing the Argentine Rudolfo Zapata who departed the club by mutual consent a week ago.

This will be Davis’ second stint in charge, having led them to the title in the 2015/16 season.

He is also a legend of the club when it operated under the name Seba United.

Davis told Nationwide Sports today, that the club always wanted him to come back but it was just not the right time.

Davis says he has been following the team, and though he won’t focus too much on changing the method of play, he still sees areas which he thinks need some attention.

The job is only for the rest of the season but Davis who is still head coach of Ruseas says he would love to have it full time.

Davis will work in tandem with head of JFF Coaching Education Andrew Peart who has been appointed Technical Director at Mobay United.

Peart led Glenmuir High to back to back ISSA Champions League titles and also had stints with Jamaica College and University of the West Indies.

The former champions are currently third in the league on 48 points after Monday night’s 3-1 win over Tivoli Gardens at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.

The Davis and Peart era kicks off on Thursday when Montego Bay United host Racing F.C in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League.
