Defending Champions Cavalier Seal JPL Playoff Spot

Defending champions Cavalier became the latest team to secure a spot in the Wray and Nephew/Jamaica Premier League playoffs.

Cavalier beat Chapelton Maroons 2-0 at the Tony Spaulding Complex on Monday, thanks to an own goal from Gawaine Austin and a late Dwayne Atkins strike.

Cavalier are now on 63 points, the same as Portmore United. They join Mount Pleasant, Montego Bay United, Arnett Gardens and Portmore in the playoffs.

Waterhouse, on 55 points, and Tivoli, on 54, are fighting for the sixth and final playoff spot.

Meanwhile, Arnett Gardens beat already relegated Vere United 3-1 to move to within two points of Montego Bay United for the second automatic semifinal place.

Rushike Kelson, Jaheim Thomas and Rushane Thompson got the goals for Arnett who are now on 70 points to Montego Bay United’s 72.
