Belize bids farewell to the 62-year old Development Finance Corporation and welcomes the Development Bank of Belize (DBB). In a press release from Cabinet dated October 2, “Cabinet gave its approval for the renaming and rebranding of the (DFC) to the Development Bank of Belize. This will represent a renewed institutional identity and will enable the DFC to complete its transformation, reinforce its commitment to excellence and national impact, and signal a bold step forward in Belize’s development and climate finance landscape.” End of Quote.
The Development Finance Corporation was established and incorporated under the name since September 27, 1963, in British Honduras (now Belize) as a privately owned entity before being restructured and becoming a government-owned institution in 1973. DFC currently operates and is legislated under the New DCF Act No.1 of 2009.
