Doubles vendor, Sydney Singh, yesterday appeared in court charged with his wife’s murder.

Singh, 45, appeared before Master Whitney Franklin at the South B High Court, charged with murdering his wife Kamnee Thackurdeen, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

The charges stemmed from a shooting incident, which occurred during an alleged argument at the couple’s Couva home on July 22.

Police said Thackurdeen, 48, died at the San Fernando General Hospital on July 23, after being treated in the Intensive Care Unit for a gunshot wound to the chest.

Singh of Market Street was arrested following advice from Deputy DPP Sabrina Jaglal on July 29. Investigator WPC Horsford charged him with the offences.

Singh was remanded into custody, and the Sufficiency Hearing was fixed for May 19, 2026.
