Dozens of officers pass police promotional exams across Belize

The Belize Police Department has released the official results of its most recent promotional examinations, a move that could soon see dozens of officers elevated to higher ranks within the organization. According to the Departmental Orders, officers from the ranks of constable, corporal, and sergeant were successful in the examinations, placing them in line for potential promotion once vacancies and administrative processes allow. The results indicate that thirty officers at the rank of sergeant passed the promotional examinations, positioning them for advancement into higher supervisory roles within the department. In addition, seventy-two corporals successfully completed their exams, making them eligible for promotion into senior non-commissioned officer positions. The largest group of successful candidates came from the rank of constable, with more than one hundred and forty constables and detective constables recording passing grades, many of whom are now eligible for their first promotion within the police service.  The successful officers are drawn from formations across the country, including Belize City, Belmopan, San Ignacio, Orange Walk, Corozal, San Pedro, Caye Caulker, Dangriga, Punta Gorda, and several rural communities. Officers attached to specialized units such as the Criminal Investigation Branch, Special Branch, Financial Intelligence Unit, Special Patrol Unit, K-9 Unit, Crime Fusion Centre, Mobile Interdiction Unit, and the National Police Training Academy also appear on the list of those who passed.  Police officials have emphasized that while passing the promotional examination is a key requirement, it does not automatically guarantee promotion, as appointments are dependent on available vacancies, seniority, performance records, and final administrative approval. The Department has nevertheless congratulated all successful candidates, noting that the results reflect continued efforts to strengthen leadership, professionalism, and operational capacity within the Belize Police Department.
