Dr Gabrielle remains in Thai ICU

Miss Universe Jamaica 2025, Dr Gabrielle Henry, remains hospitalised in Thailand following a fall from the main stage during the evening gown segment of the Miss Universe preliminary competition earlier this week. On account of medical advice, she withdrew from the competition, which recently took place in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

In a release issued Friday evening, the Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation said Henry continues to receive treatment after being admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a Thai hospital.

Her sister, Dr Phylicia Henry-Samuels, who is in Thailand with their mother, Maureen Henry, advised the organisation that “Gabby isn’t doing as well as we would have hoped, but the hospital continues to treat her accordingly.”

The organisation added that medical personnel have indicated that Henry will be required to remain in the ICU for at least seven days as doctors maintain close monitoring and specialised care.

This update follows an earlier release disseminated on Thursday by Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange on behalf of Henry’s family. That release stated that Henry sustained trauma to her head, along with lacerations to her chin and foot, after the fall.

“The fall resulted in head trauma, requiring her admission to the intensive care unit at a hospital in Thailand. Jamaica's representative also sustained a laceration to her chin and foot,” the statement said, noting that she withdrew from the pageant based on medical advice.

The Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation is urging Jamaicans to “continue keeping Gabrielle in their prayers”, adding that its primary focus remains her recovery and the well-being of her family. It also appealed for “continued compassion, sensitivity, and privacy” during this difficult period.

Miss Universe Mexico, Fátima Bosch, is the newly crowned Miss Universe 2025. The first runner-up is Miss Universe Thailand, Praveenar Singh, and the second runner-up is Miss Universe Venezuela, Stephany Abasali.
