The JLP’s candidate in waiting for Western Westmoreland, Dr. Garfield James, says he will be working with the incumbent Member of Parliament, Morland Wilson, to ensure the party retains the seat.
Dr. James, who’s currently Councillor for the Sheffield Division, defeated MP Wilson in an internal selection exercise on Sunday.
The JLP did not release the final tally score following Sunday’s exercise. However, it’s understood he won by only four votes.
The move has left some labourites upset.
A handful of supporters gathered outside the constituency office on Tuesday to express their disapproval of Dr. James.
The placard-bearing protestors claimed they will withhold their votes unless MP Wilson is reinstated as candidate.
Dr. James says he’s willing and ready to unite with disgruntled supporters in the constituency.
