Vybz Kartel is set to make history with his first-ever live performance in Toronto, Canada, this October. The announcement was made on Friday by global rap icon Drake, who revealed that Kartel will be performing at two shows as part of his birthday celebrations.
The performances are scheduled for 26 and 27 October, just two days after Drake’s 39th birthday on 24th of October. While the venues are yet to be revealed, anticipation is already running high among fans in Canada and beyond.
Drake shared the news via a collaborative Instagram post with Kartel, captioned: “@vybzkartel DI TEACHA LIVE IN TORONTO FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER CHAMPAGNE BDAY CELEBRATIONS 🤯.” The post also featured bold promotional artwork reading, “OVO PRESENTS VYBZ KARTEL FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER LIVE IN TORONTO OCTOBER 26 AND 27.”

Kartel, widely regarded as one of Dancehall’s most influential figures, has performed across multiple continents throughout his career, but this will mark his debut in Toronto, a city with a vibrant Caribbean community and a deep appreciation for reggae and dancehall culture.
The announcement comes over a year after his release from prison last summer, during which he has re-established himself on the live circuit, performing at numerous sold-out shows worldwide. His upcoming Canadian debut under the OVO banner promises to be one of the most talked-about Dancehall events in North America of the year.
For Drake, the collaboration highlights his long-standing admiration for Kartel, whom he has often credited as one of his biggest musical inspirations. For fans, it offers a chance to witness two of the world’s most influential artistes come together for a landmark celebration in Toronto.
