Drivers can now renew their licences up to three months before the expiration date under a new change approved by the Government.
The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation said the measure took effect today following an amendment to regulations under the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act.
Previously, motorists could only renew licences within one month of the expiry date.
The amendment, introduced through Legal Notice No. 48 of 2026, allows holders of valid driver’s licences to renew up to three months in advance.
The ministry said the change will provide greater convenience for the public, reduce last-minute renewals and improve service efficiency.
