Drunk driver crashes car into police vehicle

A drunk driver who was going the wrong way on Golden Grove Road, Piarco, ended up crashing his own car into a police vehicle while being arrested.

Police said the incident happened at around 2.30 am on Monday, when officers saw a blue Nissan B15 heading north in the southbound lane. They chased and intercepted the car.

As the driver got out on command, the vehicle kept rolling and struck the back of the police car, damaging its bumper.

He was taken to the Piarco Police Station, where two sobriety tests confirmed his blood-alcohol level was well above the legal limit.

He was charged with driving under the influence and his car was impounded.
