Duchess of Edinburgh to Visit Belize for Official Engagements

The Government of Belize has announced that Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie Helen Rhys-Jones, will pay an official visit to Belize from November 16 through to the 19th.  According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Duchess’s itinerary will include meetings with government officials and community leaders, as well as visits to projects focused on key national priorities.  These will include initiatives promoting eye health and care, the empowerment of indigenous women, and the conservation and protection of Belize’s world-renowned barrier reef.  The Government says the visit is testament to the close and enduring relationship between Belize and the United Kingdom and provides an opportunity to highlight Belize’s achievements in social development, environmental stewardship, and community resilience.  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating the visit and has expressed that Belize looks forward to warmly welcoming Her Royal Highness later this month.  the Duchess of Edinburgh is the wife of Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, the youngest brother of His Majesty King Charles III.
