Dwayne Bravo Foundation hosts charity golf tournament

Team Wilco successfully defended its title as the Dwayne Bravo Foundation Charity Golf Tournament returned to St Andrews Golf Club, Moka, for its second year on Monday.

Liam Bryden, Ryan Gomez and Willie Medford finished first with a score of 57.8 to claim back-to-back victories. The trio won the inaugural tournament in 2025 as Team MRI before returning this year under the Team Wilco banner.

The tournament, hosted by former West Indies all-rounder and Trinbago Knight Riders head coach Dwayne Bravo, brought together sporting personalities, corporate leaders and members of the Trinidad and Tobago national youth golf team.

Among those attending were West Indies batting legend Brian Lara, former Trinidad and Tobago football star Russell Latapy, TKR chief executive officer Venky Mysore and members of the TKR team.

Team TKR2, comprising Otis Gibson, Matthew Tromp and Ryan ten Doeschate, finished second with 62.2, while Team Sanitation Solutions — Kevesh Ramnath, Ryan Ali and Dwayne Ramlal — placed third with 62.7.

Team 88 Special, featuring former West Indies captain Daren Sammy, Tim Seifert and Wayne Baptiste, finished fourth with 63.5.

Jerseem Boodram won the Nearest the Pin award at the seventh hole with a shot measuring 8 feet 5 inches, while Desron Ambrose claimed the award at the 15th hole with a shot measuring 1 foot.

While the tournament provided a competitive day on the course, the event was organised to support the charitable work of the Dwayne Bravo Foundation.

Bravo said his long-term ambition is to establish a facility for underprivileged children where they can receive support and access opportunities to improve their lives.

Until that vision is realised, he said, the Foundation would continue supporting children in need and giving back to communities.

Established in 2015, the Foundation has donated more than $200,000 to causes and programmes across Trinidad and Tobago. Beneficiaries have included the National Centre for Persons with Disabilities, Martha El Katow Home, Credo Foundation for Justice, Margaret Kistow Home, Living Water Community – Our Lady of the Wayside Home, St Jude’s Home for Girls and Helping Her TT.

The charity golf tournament is intended to combine sport, business and community engagement while raising support for the Foundation’s ongoing work with children and families.

This year’s tournament was supported by Ansa Motors, Proton, Carib, bmobile, Coca-Cola, Dynamed Medical and Rhino Pack.
