There are reports in England that former Trinidad and Tobago and Manchester United star Dwight Yorke is being considered for the job as head coach of the Jamaica National Senior Football team.
The 52 year old Yorke is said to be a prime candidate for the post left vacant Heimir Hallgrimmson who resigned a few weeks ago with two years still on his contract.
The Mirror in England is reporting that Yorke is a popular choice of the English Premier League players in the Jamaica squad.
Yorke played for Trinidad and Tobago at the 2006 World Cup in Germany and famously helped Manchester United to the Treble including the Champions League title in 1999.
he’s dabbled into coaching since his retirement, but has been out of work since a short stint with Macarthur F.C in Australia.
Yorke is currently the holder of a UEFA Pro Licence as well as his A Licence….The JFF has had upwards of 40 expressions of interest in the role they expect to fill by the end of August.
Yorke has stepped down from his role as a global Ambassador for Manchester United to move into management fulltime.
