Goldburn Glenford Adolphus, 55 better known as “Easy Glenn” was this morning arraigned on a single charge of murder. In courtroom # 6, he stood before Magistrate Mannon Dennison wearing a long-sleeved white T-Shirt with the word “Belize” in bold print on the chest and sleeves. He appeared unrepresented when he asked Magistrate Dennison if he can ask a question. Before he was allowed to speak, the magistrate reminded him that he doesn’t have a lawyer and “If it’s about the case I will stop you”. At that time Adolphus said (quote) “it’s ok”. Because of the nature of the offence no plea was taken, bail was denied, and he was remanded to the Hattieville Prison until November 27 when he’ll appear in court.
Adolphus is being accused of the gruesome murder of 42-year-old Shaniele Faber, mother of four children and a school warden of Douglas Jones Street in Belize City. Her dead body was found on Saturday stuffed in a blue trash barrel sometime after 4:00 pm when Lincoln Flowers was digging inside the barrel for pint bottles.
The dismembered body, which had both hands severed with tattoos to the face and neck, clothed in a red shorts and black top was already in a partial state of decomposition since police believed that she was killed between October 2-4. Adolphus was caught on surveillance video carting away the barrel with the corpse stuffed inside. When he was first picked up for questioning, he told police that he found the dead body inside his house which was the former site of the Land’s Department, and that he disposed of it in a nearby garbage bin around 5:30 on Saturday morning. Police are still looking for the missing body parts.
Shaniele’s younger brother, KYLE Tillett remembers his sister as a happy go-lucky woman.
Kyle Tillett: “Everyone who knows Shanelle knows she’s a very adorable person, loving, love party. She’s a person with a lot of friends. I don’t really know all of her friends. She was about the party, that’s the type of person who she is.”
The Leader of the Opposition, Tracy Panton called the murder “a brutal act”, which reflects a deeper societal sickness that demands not only outrage, but action. She urged the powers that be to bring the perpetrator to justice. Adding that “Every Belizean woman deserves to feel safe in her home, in her neighborhood, and in our country.”
