The Ministry of Education has reported strong results for the 2025 Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and steady improvement in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations, with notable gains in English and continued focus on Mathematics outcomes.

A total of 8,035 candidates sat the CAPE Unit I and II exams, achieving an overall pass rate of 95.72% (Grades I–V), an improvement over 2024. Passes at Grades I–III accounted for 72.72% of entries.

CAPE Unit I recorded a 95.94% pass rate, with 27 of 31 subjects achieving over 90% passes. Agricultural Science, Food and Nutrition, Geography, and Performing Arts all achieved 100% passes, while 13 subjects, including Accounting, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, French, Pure Mathematics, and Spanish, showed marked improvement.

CAPE Unit II achieved a 95.34% pass rate, up from 93.95% in 2024, with six subjects earning 100% passes — among them Art & Design, French, and Performing Arts. Twenty subject areas improved over last year’s performance.

At CSEC, 22,693 candidates entered 117,984 subjects, with an overall pass rate (Grades I–III) of 70.65%, up from 68% in 2024. Passes in five or more subjects rose to 61.79% (from 58.54%), while 51.02% of candidates achieved five or more passes including English A and Mathematics.

Minister of Education Dr Michael Dowlath praised the results, highlighting the dedication of students, teachers, parents, and school leaders. “Every child can succeed when given the right support, opportunities, and belief in their potential,” he said. “The achievements we celebrate today demonstrate what is possible when we nurture the talents of all our students. We will build on this momentum as we work toward even greater accomplishments in 2026.”
