Edwin Allen’s Denique Palmer Wins First Race of ‘Champs’ 2025

Denique Palmer of Edwin Allen won the first race at the 2025 ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships now underway at the National Stadium.

Palmer stopped the clock at 4:59.33 to win heat-1 and advance to Wednesday’s final of the class-3 girls 1500 metres.

Driana Frater of Vere was second in 5:00.47 and Holmwoods’ Karrita Rose finished third in 5:00.79.

Heat-2 went to Ashley Shepherd of Holmwood in 5:02.53, with Shameika Dennis of STETHS second in 5:02.61 and Sydney Pagon’s Alexia Palmer third in 5:02.68.

In the Class-2 girls’ 1500 metres, Kevongaye Fowler of Edwin Allen has the fastest time going into the final when she won heat-1 in 4:50.12.

Meanwhile, Thywaine Sterling of William Knibb stopped the clock at 4:16.00 to post the fastest time going into the final of the Class-2 boys’ 1500 metres.
