Elections and Boundaries opens voter transfer window tomorrow 

The Elections and Boundaries Department is reminding registered voters who have changed their place of residence that the annual Transfer of Electors period officially opens on Tuesday, July 1, and runs through August 31. The annual exercise allows registered electors who have moved from one electoral division to another to update their voter registration so they can cast their ballots in the constituency where they now reside.  According to the department, applicants must have been registered as an elector since July 2, 2018, and must have lived at their new address for at least two months before applying for a transfer.  Eligible voters are required to visit the Elections and Boundaries registration office serving the division in which they now reside. Applicants must also present one valid form of identification, including a Voter’s Identification Card, Social Security Card, Driver’s License, or Passport.  The Elections and Boundaries Department is encouraging all eligible electors who have relocated to take advantage of the two-month transfer period to ensure the voters’ list accurately reflects their place of residence ahead of future elections.  The department notes that maintaining an up-to-date electoral register is an important part of Belize’s democratic process and is urging voters not to wait until the deadline before submitting their applications.
