Elite Netball League Tips Off June 27

The Red Stripe Flavours Elite Netball League is set to tip off at the National Indoor Sports Centre, on June 27.

Five teams namely, Defending champions Manchester Spurs, Kingston Hummingbirds, St. Ann Orchids, St. Catherine Racers and the National Under-21 Shiners will contest the tournament.

The competition which will bring together the sport’s top local based athletes in a battle for supremacy promises to be electrifying and fiercely competitive.

Coach of the Spurs, Dalton Hines, loves his team’s chances of retaining the title.

For the first time in the competition’s history the tournament will also include two overseas players, one based in England and the other in Australia.

Jamaica is ranked number three in the world, and all the locally based Sunshine Girls will take part in the competition, and will be spread across the four Elite teams along with former nationals and other aspiring Sunshine Girls.

The league will be played in a Round Robin format, then move to play-offs in the closing stages.

The league playing format also includes the Powerade Power Play, where the two-point super shot will be available to teams in the last three minutes of each quarter.

And the Marathon Brokers Tactical Timeout available to Coaches to strategize and reset during the game.
