Music producer and entrepreneur Emilio Estefan Jr. has spoken out following a formal apology issued by attorney Travis Walker, who previously attempted to involve Estefan and his wife, Grammy-winning artist Gloria Estefan, in allegations connected to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ parties. The lawsuit which alleged that a “tunnel” existed between the Florida homes of Diddy and Gloria Estefan at 1 and 2 Star Island in Miami, had already been dismissed in July, and the judge sanctioned Walker for his actions.
In a video shared to Instagram, Estefan reflected on the incident and emphasized the dangers of misinformation in the digital age. His message was direct and cautionary:
“This video reminds us that we can’t believe everything we read or hear. In these times of the internet and social media, news spreads quickly and many times it isn’t true. It’s our responsibility—not just for ourselves but for others as well—to defend the truth and demand it. It’s a shame!”
The plaintiff, Manzaro Joseph, claimed he was drugged, kidnapped, and sexually assaulted as part of a criminal enterprise beginning in 2015. He alleged he was taken to Estefan’s Star Island home and moved through an underground tunnel to Diddy’s former residence, where he said he saw celebrities including LeBron James, Jay-Z, and Beyoncé.
Judge Donald Middlebrooks dismissed the case after questioning the credibility of the evidence, which included vague photos and a heavily redacted police report that didn’t match the alleged incident date.
The lawsuit included 15 counts—such as racketeering, human trafficking, and kidnapping. In a separate trial earlier, Diddy was cleared of two charges but found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was sentenced to 48 months in prison and is scheduled to be released in 2028.
Diddy bought 1 Star Island from the Estefan on 2021 for $35 million.
Both Diddy and Estefan have denied the existence of any tunnel.
